During the past decade, advancements in technology have had a significant impact on the dental industry. It seems that advancements using technology have been made in all areas of dentistry, except for denture making. The denture making process has not changed in many, many years until now, that is!
A new company, Global Dental Science, is now making “digital dentures.” Their unique patented process allows dentures to be made in fewer appointments with exceptional fit. The technology is amazing using impressions, some records, and of course, advanced computer software, a virtual denture is made in the computer, which is then used to mill the final denture.
The most exciting part for us however, is that a permanent digital record is made of your patient. What this means is that a duplicate denture can be made for your patient using the digital file with simply a phone call.

New research could revitalize the discussion about the use of amalgam fillings. According to a new study released by a broad coalition of health, consumer and environmental groups, dental mercury fillings pollute the environment, contaminate fish and are far more costly for taxpayers than alternative tooth-colored materials. The groups have called for the phasing out of amalgam in the USA, following the lead of other countries.
