We've just completed our Implant Program Session 2 and Staff Program - packed with 4 days of lectures and live surgeries.

"I believe the best way to describe Ken's course is to say that it is the Ritz Carlton of CE courses. The instruction, organization and facility are all 1st class. Ken's common sense, safe approach makes it easy to understand and apply. Prior to this course, I had never placed or restored an implant but I feel very confident that I can now diagnose, treatment plan and restore implant patients. I think that anyone serious about implant dentistry should consider this course."

Dr. Michel Comeau
Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

"This course was invaluable to my continued pursuit of advanced education in implant dentistry. I have been placing implants for approximately 2 years and this course greatly expanded my knowledge base and helped me take the implant part of my practice to the next level. Dr. Hebel is an outstanding clinician and teacher. I would highly recommend this training course to anyone interested in increasing their experience level in implant dentistry."

Dr. Shannon Hudson
Simpsonville, North Carolina

"Again, top notch course. Great experience from start to finish. I highly recommend to anyone that wants to incorporate implants, whether it be prosthetics or surgical into their practice. Thanks Dr. Hebel, Gajjar and their staff for making our stay in London enjoyable."

Dr. Gabriel Pollo
The Woodlands, Texas

H.O.T tip...
from the desks of Drs. Hebel & Gajjar

To Cement or Not to Cement – That is the Question!

(Although, if any of you have attended Dr. Hebel’s lecture on this topic, you should not even be asking the question!!)

There are so many reasons to cement your implant restorations that it is difficult to think of why not to cement. Cemented restorations definitely provide better esthetics, have improved biomechanics and are much easier to fabricate and work with. In fact, when you cement your implant restorations, you are actually just doing Crown and Bridge restorations that you are familiar with!! Really, the only reason you may want to screw in a restoration is if you have a very short implant abutment and don't have enough retention to cement.

When we first started to cement our implant supported restorations, we used provisional cements such as Tempbond. Soon, a cement specifically formulated for Implant restorations was formulated and sold by Nobel Biocare - called Improv.

Unfortunately, Nobel Biocare stopped selling Improv in January 2005, and we were unable to find a replacement. After some searching however, we now have 2 options:

1. Premier has developed a similar product called Premier Implant Cement.
Premier Cement is available through:

Salvin Dental Specialties
3450 Latrobe Drive
Charlotte, NC 28211 U.S.A.
Toll Free: 800-535-6566
Phone: 704-442-5400
Fax: 704-442-5424

2. Improv is now being distributed through The Perio Institute.
Improv is also available through:

Alvelogro
80 E Rhododendron Lane
PO Box 449
Union, WA 98592-0449
Phone (360) 898-2583
Fax (360) 898-7777

Both products are excellent, but before you cement with them, don't forget to lubricate the inside of your restoration so that you can retrieve it if required.

So the question is not whether to cement. The question is what to cement with!

Staff Program a Hit!!

Our first auxillary program on May 12-13, 2005 was a huge success!!

We received great reviews from the participants. The most important feedback was that the staff felt included as part of the "team" and were motivated to help promote implants within their practice.

Whether the participant was new to implants or had some experience, the program provided them a foundation in all aspects of implant therapy - from clinical procedures to case presentation. Sharing ideas and information amongst their peers proved to be a valuable learning environment.

And of course, the Thursday night party (with over 50 dentists and their staff) was a blast!!

Get your team involved with implants and experience the benefit of improved communication and knowledge.

8-day Mini Residency in California and New Jersey

The Hands On Training Institute in partnership with Nobel Biocare will be running an 8-day mini residency program in Yorba Linda, CA and Mahwah, NJ starting this fall.

Each program is offered in two, 4-day sessions covering both Prosthetic and Surgical Phases of Implant Dentistry (including grafting techniques).

The fee for the entire 8-day program is $3500 USD.

For registration, dates or further information, click here, or call Rose at 1-888 806-4442.

(Don't delay – these programs fill up quickly and in the past, there have been waiting lists for doctors to register. )

On the road again

Dr. Gajjar provided a 2-day "Train the Trainer" program for 3M and did a whirlwind tour around the world, going to Australia, India and South Korea.

The 2-day program was a hands on workshop providing training in digital photography, photoshop, powerpoint and presentation skills. The program was a success and we may be offering this program at the Hands On Training Institute.

If you would be interested in participating in a limited attendance 2-day hands on program, email Dr. Gajjar

Leader or Watcher?

If you are a leader, you are probably already involved in Implant treatment. If you are more cautious and a watcher, it’s time to get started. Implants are no longer "new and experimental". They are so mainstream now, that everyone is starting to get involved.

With the huge demand for Comprehensive Implant Training, we have increased the frequency of Sessions 1 and 2, from twice a year to three times a year. And with our staff program, the whole office can get trained together.

If you haven’t become involved, now it’s time. Call (1-888-806-4442) to get more information and find out how your practice can benefit from becoming involved with Dental Implants.

And don't forget to ask about the leasing program . . .

The leasing program is becoming a very popular way for dentists to become involved in implant dentistry. Click here to download a PDF file for more details, or contact your local Nobel Biocare representative.

It really is too good to pass up!
