We've just completed Session 3 - packed with 3 days of lectures and hands-on training.

"This course joins the pearls of implant knowledge gathered over the years into a necklace of implant comfort, safety and confidence! The hands-on component is a great confidence booster as one prepares to embark into the theatre of implant dentistry. The organization and presentation is truly remarkable."

Dr. David Grant
Rexdale, Ontario

"The amount of information given at this course surpasses the expectations of participants like myself. This course is a great tool to have in starting your career in implant dentistry. As an academician, I feel this course is a great complement to any residency and prosthodontic program for entering the world of implant dentistry."

Dr. Touradj Ameli
Boston, Massachusetts

"Another outstanding program that smoothly "integrates" with the first two courses. Once again the multifaceted approach of slides, a manual, study practice models and live surgery easily observed with high quality video all combine to make this an excellent learning experience."

Dr. Richard Williams
Anchorage, Alaska

How a Digital Camera Works

Traditional cameras use film to capture and store an image, whereas digital cameras use a device called an image sensor. An image sensor is a silicon chip that contains millions of photosensitive diodes. These diodes (or photosites) record the amount of light that falls on them. The brightness recorded by each photosite is then stored as a set of numbers that can then be used to set the color and brightness of dots on the screen or ink on the printed page to reconstruct the image.

Pixels & Resolution

Once an image is reconstructed, it is made up of many tiny squares that represent the individual photosites. These squares are called pixels. Each pixel represents a color with a certain brightness and intensity that was captured by the photosites. The quality of a digital image depends on the number of pixels used to create the image. This is commonly referred to as resolution.

By enlarging this digital photo, we can see the individual pixels that make up the image.

The resolution of an image is directly related to the number of pixels within the image. The larger the number of pixels used to create the image, the larger the resolution. The increase in pixels adds detail and results in sharper images.

High Resolution image containing
a larger number of pixels
Low Resolution image has
poor image quality due to a
lower number of pixels

So if you’re experiencing difficulty obtaining good quality images from your digital camera, take a look at the resolution at which you’re taking your photographs. Remember, the higher the resolution, the more pixels, the sharper the image.

Licensing in Ontario – what we’ve all been waiting for!

Fantastic News!!

Canadian dentists can now obtain a license in Ontario – and if you’re getting it for educational purposes, the 2-day ethics course and examination will be waived!

What does this mean? Well, dentists outside Ontario can now bring patients to our training programs and perform live hands on surgery. The fees are pro-rated for the year, so anyone coming to the Fall courses will pay a reduced fee.

Now’s the time! Get registered for our upcoming program (we still have spots available), get a patient, and get great hands on training!!

Implants for Profit??

Yes, implants are profitable. In fact, implant procedures are one of the most profitable procedures that we do in dentistry. Let’s take a look . . .

The fee for a single tooth implant from start to finish is on average about $3500.00. The time invested in the procedure is about 2.5 hours. Taking into account the lab fees and the cost of the implant, the total expenses are approximately $1200.00. That generates a gross income of $2300.00. (fees are in Canadian dollars)

If you do only 1 implant a month, look at the revenue you can generate. Imagine if you did 2 implants . . . or 5 implants every month . . .

So ask yourself . . . is it time to get involved?

New Promotion

Get involved for less than $450.00 (CAD) per month!!

Nobel Biocare Canada has just started a new promotion to make it even easier for dentists to get involved in Implant Dentistry.

For less than $450.00 (CAD) a month, you receive all the equipment you need, 20 implants and training at our Hands On Training Institute. If you do only 1 implant every month, you will still generate almost $1900.00 per month after all your expenses.
