In January of 2008 I decided that I needed to advance my practice and as a service to my patients offer implant placement services; in addition to restoring implants to my patients. I asked my local implant rep to recommend a course. I was directed to Nobel's training facility in Mahwah NJ and registered for the 11-day mini-residency. I asked around to some specialists and told them that Dr. Hebel was teaching the course. I had received much positive feedback and Dr. Hebel was well known and had a terrific reputation. The course in Mahwah was a good introduction to implant placement and the techniques and instrumentation required for the process. The Mahwah course also included a complete review of treatment planning and prosthetic procedures necessary to improve my practice of dentistry. During the course Dr. Hebel had introduced his hands on training program in Canada and I felt that this would complement the training in Mahwah because live surgery and patient interaction is really the next step. I registered for the course and the team at Hands on Training made the trip very simple by recommending a travel agent that was familiar with Dr. Hebel's courses and routine. I booked my hotel and plane and found my trip to Canada just as easy as traveling to Florida.
Dr. Hebel's lecture in Mahwah gave me confidence and the knowledge to move forward in the integration of implant placement in my practice. Joining session two in London, Ontario I was immediately placed into the operatory and assisted in implant surgery and was exposed to many live surgeries on the video screens. The facility in London is equipped with several operatories in a brand new state of the art training facility. Video cameras are positioned over the patients and the lecture room has three 75-inch plasma televisions that have different surgeries going on at the same time. The experience was invaluable and could not be replaced by any didactic course or any course with models alone. Since I attended the second session, I have also attended the third session and decided to sign up for all three sessions again because the content is the same but the surgeries are different and when I return in the fall I would have expected to have placed implants in my practice and will be able to withDr.aw additional knowledge to further advance my knowledge of implant placement.
The Hands on Training facility is world class, organized and comprised of a staff and team that is very helpful and knowledgeable. I felt welcome and at home and the trip to Canada is a hop skip and a jump. One last thing to add, in addition to learning, there will be interaction with many other dentists from all over the world, both young and old and the knowledge that can be gained from dinner or lunch conversations completes the learning experience. Dr. Hebel takes the group out and the discussions and the friendships form creating a friendly environment that cannot be replaced in any other way.

Awesome! After 6 days of teaching sound core principles and treatment guidelines, Ken proceeded to put into practice the second phase of instruction, namely "Practice what you teach". I have been placing implants (mostly single units) for about one year. Each section of Hands on Training from the introduction to grafting and finally to the placement course provided a logical comprehensive approach to treatment planning and placement of multiple implants for comprehensive implant placement.
